In-Depth Ultrasound and Anatomical Screening

Lara and I set out for our second doctor's appointment this week.  This time we were going to get an Anatomical Screening - basically just making sure there were 20 fingers and toes, no cleft palate, normal organ development, etc.  Originally we were going to Texas Perinatal Group, but they called the day before informing us that our portion would cost $1550!  After some phone calls to the insurance company we figured out that TPG was out of network, accounting for the outrageous price (who says health care doesn't need reform).  We found a different location and they did the ultrasound for ~1/6th the price.

The cool things about this ultrasound are:
1. The picture was clearer.
2. The ultrasound was longer so we got to see them move around a lot.
3. They used the new 3D/4D technology to take some pictures.
4. They took many pictures and a video (information to come on where to see the video).

Here are the pics.  The photos up to the first set of 3D/4D ones are Baby A; the rest are Baby B.  Lara was "thrilled" to have the 2 boys verdict confirmed.  Baby A gave us a great smile in the fourth pic.  The cord you see across Baby A's face in the 3D/4D pics is the umbilical cord.  In Baby B's second 3D/4D picture you can see Baby A's feet.  A was kicking B almost the entire time.  These boys are going to be a rowdy lot.  The doctor still thinks they are most likely fraternal but only time will tell.
