We're home!!!

The doctors let us being the boys home Sunday May 1st since they were doing so well, so we loaded them into carseats and took them home.
It's been a busy few days.  The NICU was feeding them every 3 hours so Lara and I aren't getting much sleep these days.  My mom and dad have been a huge help and Lara's mom and my sister are coming for the Mother's day weekend.  Without them we probably wouldn't be eating much in addition to not sleeping.  Mom has also been a big help with the feedings while I work from home during the day.  We took them to the pediatrician for the first time this Tuesday.  They weighed them again.  Andrew is back to his birth weight of 5 lbs and Lucas is now 4 lbs. 10 oz.  They seem to like their new digs.  We currently have them in a pack 'n play bassinet with 2 separate sleepers right next to our bed.  They're averaging about 10-12 diapers per day per twin so Lara and I are getting really good at changing diapers.

They spend so much more of their day awake now.  The open their eyes for more of the day and love to stare at people, especially when they are talking.  Andrew especially loves to be held until he falls asleep.  Lucas makes the widest variety and funniest faces.  Every once in a while you catch them smiling or grinning though I don't think they smile on purpose yet.  One week in Lara and I more or less have a routine worked out.  The best advices we've gotten so far is to keep a log of what/when the babies eat, fill diapers, sleep, etc.  The feedings and diapers really start to run together and it's the only sure fire way to make sure each twin is eating enough.  Anyway, here are some pics.

  1. Why do I feel like that last picture was especially for Ben?!? Ha! And, YAY! We are so happy the boys are home. They look bigger and stronger in every new set of pictures and despite sleep deprivation you sound so incredibly excited and smitten, Dre - love it! Thinking about y'all.
